WHAMBAA

Get Involved

How can I get involved with WHAMBAA? You’ve come to the right place! WHAMBAA supports our MBA Hispanic/Latinx community in  many meaningful ways. Moreover, we partner with other organizations (i.e., WHALASA, AAMBAA) to create worthwhile experiences for all Wharton students and the community at large. Read on below for ways to get involved! After you sign up as a member, be sure to check out our weekly WHAMBAA newsletter for the latest updates.

Community

WHAMBAA hosts events year-round to help you create meaningful connections, as well as support and learn about the Latinx community. We also focus on different dimensions of diversity to celebrate a variety of cultures, cuisines, and life experiences. Here are a few examples of events we’ve hosted:

  • Welcome to Wharton Brunch to introduce new members to campus.
  • Q1 Retreat to host team-building activities and solidify bonds with your Whambilia.
  • Small-Group Dinners to connect as a community and try tasty Philly restaurants.
  • WHAMBAA Wednesdays so members have a weekly lunch buddy.
  • Multi-Club Collaboration Events (e.g. AAMBAA, WAAAM, WHALASA) so members meet more cool people on campus and attend enriching social and panel events.
  • Hispanic Heritage Month Events to discuss the Latinx experience and how it varies.
  • Dance Classes so members can bust out Salsa moves at the next party.
  • End of Year Banquet to send off our beloved MBA 2Ys.
  • Community Service Efforts such as mentoring, resume reviews, and more.
  • Etc. Etc. Etc. because there are many other ways to get involved with WHAMBAA!  We connect with prospective students during diversity events, orientation weekends, and club pub events.
Reach out to our leadership team if you’d like to volunteer!

Careers

We seek to empower our members in their internship and job search:

  • Employer Events – WHAMBAA connects its members with prospective employers and provides resources (e.g. consulting cases, 2Y advice) to help with the Focused Recruiting Period (FRP) and Enterprise Recruiting Period.
  • Alumni Engagement – Whether it’s for career advice, or to learn more about a specific company, we want to connect you to alumni who can provide support!

Academics

We support our members as they strive for academic success.

  • TA Exam Review Sessions – We help provide additional academic support to members before exams.
  • Class Resources – We’ve compiled a list of class ratings, notes, and helpful study resources for our members
  • Free/Subsidized Tutoring – Need a little extra help in one of your classes? WHAMBAA can help subsidize or completely cover a tutor for a quarter or semester.
